midterm 1

Almost every American today has a computer and uses it all the time. People have desktops and laptops along with internet access from their phone. Business people along with others need computer access to be easily accessible because it is a necessity in everyone's lives today. So what if people can just use their hands as a keyboard and the screen will show up virtually anywhere? This new modern invention has become an item that people are talking about all around the world. This developing invention can allow you to access the internet at your convenience without going to a computer or your phone. The "sixth sense" is a small device that you wear around your neck that can make your hands be a keyboard and the content will display anywhere. If people can get computer access anywhere at anytime, this item will fly off the shelves. This invisible key board and display screen will need to be marketed effectively in order for people to want to buy this new product. The marketing techniques that I would use in order to successfully sell this new product would be product placement and under the radar marketing.

The marketing concept of product placement has been very successful and will help sell the product known as the "sixth sense". Product placement has tremendously increased over the past decade or so due to the new computer brands and other computer technology coming out what seems like every month. Also because of the new inventions such as Tivo people can fast forward through commercials. It will soon come to the point where commercial advertising on television will become obsolete. So some companies are having their product put into the shows. For example a whole episode of Sex and the City was based on Absolute Vodka allowing the viewers of this show to become familiar with the brand. Something like Vodka is very one dimensional and has limited places it can be marketed. You can't market Vodka in a car commercial for example. But with the "sixth sense" product it can be marketed anywhere. The name of this product is very sophisticated and catchy to the viewer. A sixth sense is the power of perception beyound the five senses. So a marketing tactic that they can used for this is something like, go beyond your senses. This would be very appealing to consumers and make them interested in learning more about the product. This also is different from any original brand name such as Apple or Dell. It is very unique almost in a category of its own. Also the fact that computers are very helpful in everyday life is factor that the marketers need to consider. If people choose not to use the computer they are not only falling behind with the technology, but also with news. News travels very fast online and can be very easily accessed if you have a computer. If one is handy and you can just turn it on in mid air, this is very convenient and is very appealing to consumers. Because in today's market, the consumers number one priority is convenience. This device can be inserted into any show or movie on television because it is not offensive and is very interesting. In an episode of The Office for example, any one of the charaters can just start typing with their hands and the screen will display allowing for people to see how easy the product is to use. You can center an entire episode of The Office or for that fact any show on the "sixth sense" because it is that dimensional and unique. This is such an innovative product that no matter where it is marketed, it will be successful. People will not only like seeing the product, they will buy it.

Under the radar marketing will be a huge and very successful marketing technique that can be used for the "sixth sense." It can not only just show up in television shows but it can also be used to advertise other products. For example you can have a person typing with their hands and no keyboard in the middle of time square an ad for Dunkin Donuts for example. They can be typing and the display of a coffee can come up on the side of a sky scraper. This would be very interesting to the viewer because they will wonder how that happened and your product will be used. People will then want to go out and get this "sixth sense" and you didn't use any formal marketing technique. Also you saved money because you didn't have to pay for that advertisement. Allowing people to try the product at a function or giving other companies your product to try out will allow for your product to get exposure and at the same time let people see if they truly want to own your product. Being connected to the computer all the time will allow people to be more easily connected which will be beneficially to everyone.

The "sixth sense" is a very easy product to market because of the many different ways it can be marketed. Something this modern should not be just put on a television ad, but should be marketed creatively. Using product placement and under the radar marketing can make this product very successful. Product placement will help the product get its name out there. Such as in a television show, or displayed on the side of a building. These marketing techniques will not only boost the "sixth sense" exposure but it will also make people look at computers differently. Having this device will allow people to have full computer access at all times. There is no product like this out in the market and if marketed correctly, people will buy it. People that like to keep up with the trends and have the newest latest equipment will want to buy this product first. If new and creative ideas are used to market this device then there is no telling how far this product can go. Also under the radar marketing can be very successful because the "sixth sense" will start showing up everywhere and the more people see something the more likely they are to buy it. The marketers have to keep these ideas and past marketing strategies in mind. Also the biggest key to selling this device successfully is coming up with new marketing ideas that no one has used before in order to try and be the best. Taking a chance in marketing can be risky, but if done properly the rewards will be amazing. The possibilities are endless for this "sixth sense" and if marketed correctly, this product can take off and marketing can have a whole new meaning to it.
